James C. New, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. New has over 20 years' experience in the healthcare industry. He was President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of AmeriPath®, Inc. from January 1996 through 2003. Prior to joining AmeriPath, Mr. New served as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of RehabClinics, Inc., one of the largest outpatient rehabilitation companies in the country, which he founded in 1991. RehabClinics completed its initial public offering in June 1992 and merged with NovaCare, Inc. in February 1994. Mr. New was President of NovaCare's Outpatient Division from 1994 to 1995. Prior to founding RehabClinics, he served as President of Greater Atlantic Health Service and Physicians Choice of Southeastern Pennsylvania, both HMOs. From 1993 to 1996, Mr. New was the Chairman of the Acquisition Committee and member of the Board of Directors of Pet Practice, Inc. From 1978 to 1985, Mr. New served in various executive positions at Textron, Inc. and Emerson Electric, Inc.
Martin J. Stefanelli, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Stefanelli has over 17 years' experience in pathology and diagnostic services, having worked previously at Asterand® plc, AmeriPath®, Inc.; and DIANON Systems, Inc. Mr. Stefanelli came to Aurora from Asterand where he was President and Chief Operating Officer. Asterand is a leading provider in human tissue-based research for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. While at AmeriPath, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and led a team of over 400 board-certified pathologists and Ph.D.-level scientists working at more than 200 sites nationwide. He was also responsible for a sales and managed care staff of over 100. Prior to AmeriPath, Mr. Stefanelli spent 13 years with DIANON Systems. After joining DIANON Systems in 1989 as a sales representative, Mr. Stefanelli rose through the ranks while serving in a series of positions of increasing responsibility, including Senior Vice President, Operations; and Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing, and Business Development. Mr. Stefanelli holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as an active duty U.S. Army officer, achieving the rank of captain.
Prior to joining Aurora, Mr. Marsh served as the Chief Financial Officer of CardioNet®, Inc., a cardiovascular diagnostic healthcare provider, from March 2007 until November 2007. In March 2007, CardioNet acquired PDSHeart®, Inc., where Mr. Marsh had served as PDSHeart's Chief Operating Officer, beginning in October 2005, and as its Chief Financial Officer, beginning in November 2003. Following the acquisition of PDSHeart by CardioNet, Mr. Marsh continued to serve as the Chief Operating Officer of PDSHeart until November 2007. From February 2001 until April 2003, Mr. Marsh was the Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Secretary of AmeriPath®, Inc., a provider of anatomic pathology and molecular diagnostic services. He also served as AmeriPath's Vice President and Corporate Controller from August 1996 to February 2001. From 1983 to October 1991, Mr. Marsh worked for Coopers & Lybrand, an accounting firm. Mr. Marsh, a Florida state certified public accountant, received an undergraduate degree in business administration from Slippery Rock State College.
Fred Ferrara, Chief Information Officer
Mr. Ferrara has over 17 years' experience in information technology with over nine years in pathology and diagnostic services. Mr. Ferrara came to Aurora from Laboratory Corporation of America® (LabCorp®) where he served as Director of Information Technology for Anatomic Pathology and was directly responsible for laboratory and reporting systems across several anatomic pathology divisions. Prior to the acquisition of DIANON Systems, Inc. by LabCorp in 2003, Mr. Ferrara served with DIANON Systems for six years in several key information technology positions of increasing responsibility. As Director of Information Systems, he was ultimately responsible for all DIANON information technology systems. During his tenure with DIANON/LabCorp, Mr. Ferrara was responsible for laboratory integration and acquisition transition for more than 14 sites nationwide. During his nine years in the laboratory industry, Mr. Ferrara and his teams developed industry standard products that vendors and major laboratories continue to employ today. Mr. Ferrara's previous experience outside the laboratory industry includes that of Network Engineer, University of New Haven, Connecticut; and Senior Software Developer, Regional Water Authority, New Haven.
Michael J. Null, Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Mr. Null has over 15 years' experience in sales and marketing, having previously worked for Asterand¨ plc, Renaissance Worldwide, Inc.; and DIANON Systems, Inc. Mr. Null came to Aurora from Asterand, a leading provider of human tissue-based research services for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, where he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing. While at Asterand, he led an international team that generated more than 40 percent core revenue growth for four consecutive years in North America, Europe, and the Orient. During his tenure at Renaissance, a global information technology consulting and staffing company, he served as a senior account manager and as Business Development Manager responsible for the strategic alliance program with IBM, Mercury Interactive, Inc.; Cisco Systems, Inc.; and Compuware, Inc. Prior to Renaissance, Mr. Null spent five years with DIANON Systems as a sales representative and Pacific area manager. Mr. Null holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University.
